Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 3, 2019 (ZIZ News): Customs brokerage firm Hobson’s Enterprises has opened a new warehouse facility in Bird Rock with the aim of speeding up the process of clearing cargo.

In a press release, the company stated that persons who import barrels, boxes and other small parcels arriving at the Deep Water Port in Basseterre will no longer need to join a separate long line for customs and port services.

In an interview with ZIZ news, Managing Director of Hobson Enterprises, Damion Hobson, explained the services provided by Hobson’s Enterprises.

The cargo arrives on Monday night, we work the containers on Tuesdays at our facility, customs is there to inspect all the cargo, check all the cargo, do all the evaluations that are necessary and then we place it in our warehouse which means we’ll call the following day or the same afternoon to let you know what’s the value customs put on your boxes or if you pass the commercial entry you do the same thing you’ll go up to the customs long room pass your commercial entry and come here(HE Enterprises) to collect your cargo.”

Customers and clients who are seeking to clear their cargo can now make one payment at one counter at the warehouse before leaving with their item.

Hobson said there was an urgent need for a better service and with the new facility the process of clearing cargo can be much quicker.

He also said that the LCL or less than container load warehouse is the first privately bonded warehouse in St. Kitts and Nevis which is aimed at providing a higher level of service to customers.

The warehouse is opened Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 4pm.
