Nigeria school building collapses kills at least 4
Jos, Nigeria (AP) — A one story, mud-brick school building collapsed, killing four students and injuring 24, an official said Monday.
Rescuers used shovels and bare hands to retrieve the bodies and survivors after the collapse Sunday evening of the Abu Naima Islamic School. The local coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mohammed Abdullsalam, provided the numbers of dead and injured to journalists.
Fatal building collapses occur frequently in Nigeria, often due to lack of adherence to building codes.
