NIOSH report to be reviewed by Stakeholders

Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS) — After review by the federal cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH) report was released to various stakeholders on July 27.

The contents of the report, which details results from additional tests carried out at the school, will be reviewed in a meeting with these stakeholders on July 29 and will be released to the public after perusal.

In addition to announcing the release of the document during the July 28 sitting of parliament, Minister of Education the Hon. Shawn Richards stated that the government is continuing its process of looking at sites for the building of the new Basseterre High School (BHS).

The Minister added that in an effort to bring an end to the shift system between BHS and the Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) as soon as possible, the government has engaged the essential technical teams who are advising them on the way forward. Two representatives from the respective high schools also met with cabinet last week on the matter.

Minister Richards reassured the public that as time progresses and more information becomes available it will be publicized in a timely manner.
