No show by some players for big Match

Sports Page-Tuesday 17th September 2013– The Spectators who showed up at the ET Willet Park on the afternoon of Sunday 15th September were to be sorely disappointed.

They had shown up to witness the matchup between the over 35’s former Nevis cricketers, coming up against the more contemporary team, the under 35’s.

The match which was advertised as a 30/30 affair to commemorate the 30th anniversary of independence for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, was billed to have several interesting scenarios, one of which would have been former Nevis and Leeward Islands allrounder Ronald Powell, pitting his skills against his son Ross Powell.

However, just a few players for the senior team showed up while the youngsters were out in their full number.

Ag Director of Sports Jamir Claxton and Errol Sommersall of the Nevis Cricket Association who are the chief organizers of the match, have indicated that another attempt will be made to have the match played, this time on Thursday 19th September—Independence day, sometime after the grand parade at the ET Willet Park, sometime around midday.

The teams will be confirmed by later today.
