November, over 20,000 expected at Port Zante this week

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 5TH 2011 (CUOPM) – With just over 22,000 cruise passengers visiting St. Kitts last week, figures from the Marine Department of the St. Christopher and Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) reveal some 75,000 cruise passengers visited Port Zante in the month of November.

A total of 75,570 cruise passengers were on the 36 ships that docked at Port Zante, the Deep Water Port at Bird Rock or dropped anchor in the Basseterre Roadstead.

Carnival Victory brought 12,635 passengers from its four calls and its sister ship, the Carnival Miracle, 5,218 visitors from two calls, making a total of 17,313 from the Carnival Cruise Line.

Royal Caribbean International brought 15,377 passengers last month from four ships. The Serenade of the Seas accounted for 6,804 passengers, the Navigator of the Seas, 3,213; Explorer of the Seas, 3,290 and Jewel of the Seas, 2,070 passengers.

Ventura brought 6,133 from two calls; Emerald Princess, 6,180 from two calls; Dawn Princess, 4,775 passengers from two calls and Arcadia, 1,948 and Azura, 3,042 passengers respectively from one call in November.

Last week, some 22,374 cruise passengers visited from 10 ships. Thursday the 2,224-passenger Norwegian Dawn arrived with 2,459 passengers, the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory arrived with 3,187 passengers on Friday and the 3,597-passenger Azura with 3,021 passengers on Saturday.

This week 9 ships are scheduled with an estimated 21,000 passengers. The 159-passenger Wind Spirit anchored on Sunday with 137passengers. Today the 2,450-passeger Celebrity Summit arrived from St. Croix with 2,018 passengers before leaving for Dominica.

The 2,281-passenger Mein Schiff makes its second call of the 2011/2012 season. It will dock on Tuesday along with the 3,114-passenger Serenade of the Seas.

Wednesday, two of Celebrity Solstice ships – the 2,850-passengers Celebrity Eclipse and the Celebrity Silhouette will dock. Two Carnival ships- the 2,680-passenger Miracle and the 3,050- passenger Victory dock on Friday and the 2,092-passenger Queen Elizabeth docks on Thursday.
