(ZIZ News) – October is being observed as Financial Information Month and Nevis’ Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Vance Amory has delivered a speech to signal its launch.
In his address, he said, “Financial Information Month is a regional campaign that strives to support the development to the region to a point where strong and sustainable economic group is achieved and the well-being of all citizens is improved.”
Premier Amory wants people to take the initiative to achieve financial success.
He referred to the theme of the month, “L.E.A.D.” which stands for Learn, Empower, Achieve, Develop.
“The theme is designed to inspire and challenge all citizens to “LEAD” in order to affect change needed to spur financial, entrepreneurial, business and economic success at the personal and institutional levels. It is envisioned that once this is accomplished, the lives of our people and our economies will be transformed in a positive way,” he stated.
Financial Information Month is being observed in the member countries of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. They are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The month-long activities, according to Amory, represent a collaboration among the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the ECCU member governments, financial and academic institutions, the media, other private and public sector institutions and community based groups.
Among the planned events are a Business Symposium and Innovation Forum, presentations to various schools, the F.I.M sports meet, radio discussions, a Train the Trainers Workshop, and the F.I.M Primary Schools Quiz.
