One of two St.Lucian Nationals arrested for importation and possession of cocaine to serve a jail term

ZIZ News..Sept 10, 2012–Vincent Clerice and Nixon Alexander of Marrigot, St. Lucia who were charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply to Another and Importation of Cocaine into the Federation had their case heard on Wednesday 5 September 2012.

According to a Police release, Vicent Clerice plead Guilty for all three charges while Nixon Alexander plead Not Guilty to all three charges which were withdrawn.

The release further stated that Vincent Clerice was convicted for importation of cocaine into the Federation and sentenced to two years hard labour and fined EC$ 1, 000,000 to be paid in nine months or in default will serve four years imprisonment with hard labour, on completion of the 2 years served , while no further convictions were given in the other two (2) charges.

Nixon Alexander

The Magistrate also ordered the vessel that was involved with the transshipment of the drugs to be forfeited to the Crown and be advertise in the local media for sale, sold at a public auction.

It was also ordered that Nixon Alexander be deported to his country of birth at the earliest opportunity and was therefore deported on Thursday 6 September 2012.

Meanwhile further evaluation of the drug revealed that it was 134.108 kilograms at an estimated street value of ECC $11, 816, 255.00.
