Organizing Committee of the St. Kitts Music Festival meets with Sponsors and potential sponsors

Sponsors and Media at Music Festival Meeting

ZIZ News…March 10, 2011 – As preparations are in progress for the Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, the organizers have met with some of the main sponsors over the past fifteen years and those who are showing an interest in coming on board.

At a breakfast meeting at the Marriott Hotel this morning Minister of Tourism and International Transport the Hon. Richard Skerritt gave an overview of the festival over the years from since its inception in 1996 when he was a volunteer from the business community, up until this day as Minister with responsibility for the St. Kitts Music Festival. Skerritt said the economic impact over the years has been great and the festival continues to develop local talent as part of its mandate.

To endorse his comments Minister Skerritt read a letter from the General Manager of the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel indicating that the spin off of the festival has been overwhelming to the tourism sector including Taxi operators and other persons involved in all aspects of the Tourism Industry.

Meanwhile the Chairman of the St. Kitts Music Festival, Mr. Faron Lawrence, said his committee is working hard to improve on the festival despite limited finances and called on the sponsors to come on board in a big way. He said they are taking the approach on this the Fifteenth Anniversary of the festival to let the sponsors tell them what they want for whatever tier of sponsorship and they will accommodate them.

Persons were given the opportunity to ask questions which ranged from the situation regarding the VAT (Value Added Tax) on the sponsorships, bringing back Front Stage in Independence Square and making the Sunday a fun event on the beach or at the open park at Frigate Bay.

The names of the artistes who will be performing on the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival will be announced in the coming weeks after the organizing committee receives confirmation from the various artistes.
