Over 16,000 cruise passengers visited by Thursday, three more ships are scheduled on Friday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, (CUOPM) — The parade of cruise ships to St. Kitts’ Port Zante continued this week with two ships on Thursday30th and two on Wednesday.

The 1,875-passenger Horizon arrived from Martinique with 1,183 passengers and a crew of 605, while the 3,595-passenger capacity Azura with 3,070 passengers and a crew of 1,163 arrived from St. Lucia and goes on to Grand Turk. The Horizon will depart for Tortola.

On Wednesday, the 4,100-passenger Norwegian Epic on its inaugural visit arrived from St. Maarten with 4,240 passengers before leaving for St. Thomas, in the United States Virgin Islands.

The 2,680-passengrer Costa Mediteranea arrived from St. Maarten with 2,058 passengers and left later for Dominica.

On Tuesday 28th January, the 2,500-passenger Jewel of the Seas visited with 2,166 passengers.

The 4,941-passenger Norwegian Breakaway on its second visit to St. Kitts on Monday had on board 3,979 passengers.

Most of the over 16,000 passengers came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis.

Scores headed for Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.

On Friday, three ships will visit St. Kitts. They are the 3,700-passenger Carnival Valor, the 2,076-passenger Legend of the Seas and the 1,627-passenger Maasdam.
