Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 22, 2020 (ZIZ News): More than 90 vehicles have been conveniently licensed through the Inland Revenue Department’s online portal in the month of April alone as St. Kitts and Nevis experience a new normal in the face of COVID-19.

This shows the way we live and conduct business has changed significantly, considering that less than 20 vehicles were licensed online in the first three months of the year.

Superintendent Cromwell Henry of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force shared these statistics during Wednesday’s National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) COVID-19 Daily Briefing.

“In the period January to March 2020, 18 vehicles and 7 driver’s licenses were renewed using the online portal at the Inland Revenue. For the month of April so far, 91 vehicles and 51 drivers license were renewed using this option”, the Superintendent stated.

He said for the sake of convenience and to promote exercising social distancing and physical distancing practices persons should take advantage of the St. Kitts-Nevis Inland Revenue Department website www.sknird.com.

“We continue to urge owners and drivers to use this particular option to avoid long lines at the office and to really ensure that you are physically distancing yourself. The staff at the Inland Revenue is available to assist persons who may need assistance if you call 662-8607 or 662-8675”, Superintendent Henry noted.

Vehicle owners and motorists with expired driver’s licenses have been granted an extension and will have until April 30 to renew their licenses.
