Parade of cruise ships brings over 20,000 passengers this week

ST. KITTS, JANUARY 7TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Over 14,000 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts on six cruise ships on Thursday and Friday, bringing to 20,000 the number of cruise visiting for this week, according to figures from the St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA).

Three ships brought 6,993 passengers on Friday and on Thursday, 7,264 passengers were onboard three ships.

On Friday, the 1,664-passenger Thomson Destiny arrived from Dominica with 1,446 passengers and a crew of 523 and later sails for Tortola; the 3,050 passenger Carnival Victory arrived from St. Lucia with 3,470 passengers and a crew of 1,063 and sails early evening for neighboring St. Maarten, while the 1,950 passenger Sea Princess arrived with 2,077 passengers and 830 crew from Tortola and sails for Antigua.

On Thursday, the 2,224 passenger Norwegian Dawn, which anchored off shore, arrived from Barbados with 2,492 passengers and a crew of 1,050; while the 2,038 passenger Celebrity Summitt visited with 2,351 passengers and a crew of 935 and the 2,501 passenger Serenade of the Seas arrived with 2,421 passengers and a crew of 845. Both anchored at Port Zante.

On Wednesday the 2,038 Celebrity Millennium had onboard 2,875 passengers and a crew of 875.

The 308-passenger Windsurf visited with 233 passengers and a crew of 190 on Tuesday.

On Monday, the 2,124 passenger Carnival Miracle visited with 2,352 passengers and a crew of 919 while the 308-passnger Windsurf had on 144 passengers and a crew of 93.

The 94-passeger Sea Cloud 2 is expected to visit on Saturday.

Next week, 10 cruise ships are scheduled to visit St. Kitts with a capacity of 17,000 passengers.
