Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 14, 2020 (ZIZ News): Deputy Commissioner of Labour, Dr. Deon Webb says a plan is being developed to benefit persons with outstanding claims for Severance and Long Service Gratuity recipients as St. Kitts-Nevis faces the impact of COVID-19.

While making his presentation at the NEOC daily briefing on Sunday, Dr. Webb assured employees that the Department of Labour has their best interest in mind as focus is placed on those workers affected by the federation’s State of Emergency (which includes the 24hr lockdown).

“The Department of Labour is monitoring the lockdown situation very carefully and is devising a plan to have employees work from home if it becomes necessary to complete these claims. Always remember that Dept of Labour is working in the best interest of all workers”, he said.

He then used the opportunity to thank Minister of Labour, Senior Minister Hon. Vance Amory, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sharan Rattan and all staff at the Department of Labour for their dedication during this challenging time.

He said the Ministry has also been working closely with the Department of Labour in Nevis and Social Security in this effort to bring immediate relief to our people.
