PM Douglas Challenges Customs Officers

ZIZ News — Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas has challenged officers of the Customs and Excise Department to display courage and integrity when carrying out their duties.

The Prime Minister was at the time speaking at the closing ceremony for the 10th Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council Junior Officer Basic Training Course.

He said this training will go a long way in the protection of St. Kitts and Nevis’ borders.

“The quality of the participants and the materials covered in this training effort has given me the assurance that customs and excise will continue to redouble its efforts to safeguard and the developmental interests of the nation,” stated Dr. Douglas.

Prime Minister Douglas noted that as more of the world open up to trade with St. Kitts and Nevis, the role of the customs officers will widened.

“I emphasis in this caution that the achievements of Customs and Excise over the past years are not enough of a reason to relax your efforts.”

Twenty five junior officers completed the CCLEC training course on Monday.
