PM Douglas distributes school bags

(ZIZ)– Students at three primary schools in Constituency #6 now have a head start on the new school year after receiving school bags and supplies courtesy of Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas.

On Thursday morning, Prime Minister Douglas visited Newton Ground, St. Paul’s and Dieppe Bay Primary Schools and handed out school bags to the students.

The Prime Minister told the students at Newton Ground Primary that the donation is being done out of love as the government understands the financial strain that parents often face.

“We recognize that your parents have difficulties every year in providing you with adequate school supplies.  The government, together with the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party, which I am leading, we have collaborated to make sure that no child is left behind, no school and no child is worse off than any other in fact all of them will be better off,” he said.

He said it is part of his government’s commitment that every child should be on equal footing when it comes to education.

“We believe that each child should be able to aspire to the very best of his abilities and should do his work equally well given equal opportunities to perform in school.   So your school supplies, your backpack as your school bag will be an important assistance in equipping you to learn better and prepare yourselves for a better future,” he said.

The donation is the result of a collaborative effort among the government of St. Kitts-Nevis, the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party, and a donor called “Friends of St. Kitts-Nevis”.
