BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 5TH 2012 (CUOPM) – Hailing what he called the Federation’s future sports ambassadors, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas extended heartiest congratulations to all the athletes and officials who participated in the recent RAMS 2012 Primary School championships at the Jubilee Stadium at Bird Rock.

“I congratulate the athletes from the Cayon Primary School for defeating my own athletes in Newton Ground, St. Paul’s, Dieppe Bay and Saddlers. It hurts me but it was a good sport,” said Prime Minister Douglas during the closing moments of his weekly radio call-in programme “Ask the Prime Minister.”

“I have to ask St. Paul’s Primary, last year’s champions, what has happened,” said Dr. Douglas as he expressed congratulations to the Cayon Primary School athletes “for doing a marvelous job and also those from the Sandy Point Primary School for coming second.”

Congratulating all the athletes and officials, Prime Minister Douglas described the two-day Primary Schools Championship as “marvelous games.”

“I was amazed on Sunday when I looked at the large crowd – the proud parents, the proud teachers and the proud students. That is how we have to do it in this country, exhibiting national pride and doing things with style and dignity. This is how we are as Kittitians and Nevisians,” said Prime Minister Douglas, who also extended congratulations to the St. Kitts Amateur Athletic Association.

“The triple-A has been doing an excellent job for the development of sports – track and field – in particular here in St. Kitts,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

He also made special mention of the Victrix Ludorum, Olujede Bridgewater, who won all her events and set new records in each.

Meanwhile, the Washington Archibald High School paraded in downtown Basseterre on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the victory in the Inter-School Championships in which they captured 22 gold medals. Several new records were set in the two-day event.
