PM Harris Gifts Older Persons With Tokens of Appreciation

Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris acknowledge two older persons in the community who were specially invited guests at his monthly press conference, in recognition of the month of older persons in October.

While updating the nation on matters of national interest at his monthly press conference, Prime Minister Harris made a presentation of gift baskets to John Paul and Alice Pemberton.

The Prime Minister said that the tokens for the two selected seniors is just one way to show appreciation and to honour elders during the month of older persons.

Ms. Pemberton of Central Basseterre, accepted her bouquet arrangement and gift basket and expressed thanks to the Prime Minister.

“I would like to tell you thanks very much,” she said. Mr. Paul also showed his appreciation.

International Day of Older Persons is observed annually on October 1. The date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly on December 14, 1990.

The month of older persons is being observed under the theme, “Celebrating Older Human Rights Champions”.
