PM Harris Thanks Taiwan For Continued Support

(ZIZ News) — The Government of the Republic of China, Taiwan came in for high praise from Prime Minister the Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris, last Friday, for its support to St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Security agenda.

This came when the Government received a cheque from the Resident Taiwanese Ambassador, His Excellency George Gow Wei Chiou for the purchase of six vehicles.

Dr. Harris said this follows fruitful discussions he held with Taiwan’s President, Ma Ying-Jeou, in August of this year.

“When I last met with your President, I had indicated that the National Security area was one with which we needed to enhance our bilateral cooperation and it’s good to see so soon after that we are able to do further work in this regard,” he said.

“I want to say again thank you and to say how pleased we are that on each occasion when there was a genuine felt need for support and we have come to your government, your government has given favourable consideration to the requests which we have made,” he added.

When purchased, the vehicles will be used by the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Security.
