PM issues invitation to attend ‘The Risks of HPV and oral cancer’ lecture on Sunday

BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS, JUNE 27TH 2012 (CUOPM) – “THE RISKS OF HPV AND ORAL CANCER” is the subject of a presentation this coming Sunday, July 1st 2012, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino.

During his weekly radio programme “Ask the Prime Minister,” Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas issued a personal invitation to members of the public to attend the lecture.

It will be presented by Obstetrician/Gynecologist at Baptist Health South Florida, Dr. Alberto Sirven.

The annual lecture is supported by Prime Minister Douglas in conjunction with Baptist Health International and the Honourable Marcella Liburd, Minister of Health.

During the presentation on the prevention and early detection of Oral Cancer, the Cuban-born physician will discuss many issues including the relationship between oral cancer and alcohol consumption as well as the connection between oral cancer and oral sex.

The session begins at 3 o clock on Sunday afternoon and ends at seven and includes brief remarks by Prime Minister Douglas and Health Minister Liburd prior to Dr. Sirven’s presentation.

Guest speaker last year was Dr. Troy Gatcliffe, a gynecological and reproductive cancers specialist affiliated with Baptist Health International, who discussed various issues pertaining to the prevention of cervical cancer and HPV infection and associated concerns.
