PM Pleased With Fresh Start Programme

(ZIZ News) — Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris says he is pleased with the results of the Fresh Start Programme that is targeting entrepreneurs.

During his monthly Press Conference on Tuesday morning, the Prime Minister noted that the applicants have come from across the federation and he’s pleased with the diverse business ideas that people are submitting.

“Young people come back as professionals wanting to start out on their own with no wherewithal to go to the commercial banks, have gone through this programme and secured the resources to start up their professional practices. We have persons who have come for purchase of vehicles for taxi operations, business expansion, catering, farming and fishing operations, the purchase of equipment, and at least two in relation to the production of poultry and eggs,” he said.

He said the variety of prospective businesses is a good indicator for the future of the Federation.

“This is an interesting mix. And of course this diversity is to be welcomed because it says that our ordinary people, thanks to Team UNITY, are being given a fair share and a fresh start at prosperity and entrepreneurship,” he said.

The Prime Minister reported that as of the end of October, more than 8 million dollars had been disbursed to 92 participants for the start-up of small and medium sized businesses.
