PM Press Conference

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 11, 2020 (ZIZ News): The nation’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, and new ambassadorial appointments and the upcoming parliament session were among the topics addressed during the Prime Minister’s monthly press conference on Tuesday morning at the NEMA Conference room.

Regarding the country’s efforts to combat the covid-19 pandemic the prime minister said “It is important for us as a Country that values health and a tourist destination to preserve our low risk status, as travelers will prefer safe and COVID-19 low risk destinations. We will also have a healthier and more productive population.”

The prime minister also announced that Messrs Vance Amory, Ian Liburd and Kevin Williams ill all be designated Ambassadors and will provide support to the government as a whole and the Office of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister on a range of matters relating to regional and international affairs, CBI, special projects, public sector reform, rural and sustainable development, public infrastructure, utilities, alternative energy and public policy issues.

Regarding the upcoming sitting of parliament on Thursday Two (2) of the Bills will address our international obligations under the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force.

The prime minister ended his remarks by congratulating Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley on PNM’s victory in the general elections on Monday
