PM urges PEP employees to be disciplined
(ZIZ) Prime Minister the Right Hon Dr Denzil Douglas is urging workers on the People’s Employment Programme (PEP) to taking their job opportunities very seriously.
In his weekly “Ask the PM” radio show the prime minister said PEP employees shouldn’t take the programme for granted.
“The programme provides opportunities that are not readily available in most countries and it is essential that PEP participants continue to make maximum use of the opportunities being provided,” he said.
He says they are aware that some PEP workers don’t seem to be committed to their jobs.
“We are receiving quite a bit of criticism that many of these persons in the PEP programme are not showing discipline and focus and this is of great concern to use,” he said.
The prime minister noted that the PEP programme is a golden opportunity for residents when thousands of workers are being laid off across the Caribbean.
