Police arrest two in Lodge incident

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 25TH 2011 (CUOPM) – A hunt for two men wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Lodge Project early Sunday morning has led to the arrest of five other persons wanted for questioning in connection with matters under investigation.

The 21-year-old Lodge Project resident was shot in the arm and legs about 1 a.m. Sunday.

CID and Scenes of Crime personnel accompanied by Commissioner C.G. Walwyn and Lt. Ancil Alexander responded to the incident.

Evidence collected at the scene revealed there were two persons involved in the ambush.

During an immediate and relentless joint island-wide search by the SSU, the Defence Force and Customs, five persons including one of the suspects were arrested. The other was arrested after he made arrangements and safely surrendered to police.

Both men involved in the early Sunday morning shooting incident have been positively identified and formal charges will be brought against them shortly.

Sunday night, Police Commissioner Walwyn thanked the security team for their dedication to duty in their relentless tracking and apprehension of the individuals and said the quick response is part of his initiative of returning the streets to the Citizens of the Federation.
