Police charge six with possession of firearm and ammunition

St. Kitts, (Monday 29th November 2010). As part of the ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal firearms and its related crimes, at approximately 1:45 pm on Monday 29th November 2010, police officers from the Special Services Unit and the Anti-Gang Unit executed a search warrant on the premises of Sherlon Cannonier at Neverson Street East, Newtown and found one (1) Keltec 9mm pistol with eleven (11) 9mm rounds of ammunition and one (1) M-16 round of ammunition.

Police also found five (5) men at the premises with Sherlon Cannonier and as a result have formally arrested and charged the six (6) men jointly for possession of firearm and ammunition. The firearm and ammunition was taken into police custody for further analysis.

The persons charged are as follows: Glenis Lewis 21 years old of Lower Market Street, Sherlon Cannonier 27 years old of Neverson Street East, Newtown, Ishawn Wilkes 24 years old of Neverson Street East, Newtown, Jamal Parris 23 years old of New Road Housing, Kareem Jeffers 17 years old of Thomas Street, Ponds Pasture and Ricardo Claxton 21 years old of Freeman’s Village

The find brings the total number of illegal firearms to be taken into police custody for the year 2010 to 41.

Investigations are still ongoing.
