Police Investigates Traffic Accident at Mansion

RSCNPF, Basseterre, St. Kitts, (Monday 25th April 2011) – A traffic accident on Sunday and a homicide on Monday morning have marred the long holiday weekend.

The traffic accident occurred at Mansion at approximately 7:15 pm on Sunday 24th April 2011. According to a police press release motor jeep P-254 owned and driven by Alexander Tyson of Cayon was travelling from Cayon towards Tabernacle and motor car PA-3424 owned and driven by Imran Bacchus of Lodge Village was travelling from Tabernacle towards Cayon.

The release further stated, when both vehicles reached Mansion on the main road in the vicinity of the play field and pavilion they collided leaving both vehicles extensively damaged and occupants suffering injuries to face.

Jamore Shaben who was a front seat passenger in PA-3424 sustained injuries, cuts and bruises, and was taken to the JNF Hospital by the Emergency Medical Services where he was treated for his injuries and detained at the surgical ward for observation. The driver of PA-3424 also sustained minor injuries, cuts and bruises, and was taken to the Mary Charles Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and discharged.

Meanwhile on Monday morning April 25 atproximately 8:35 am police at Old Road received a report of a homicide at Godwin Ghaut. Police enquiries revealed that 30 year-old Shervin Williams of Godwin Estate formally of Middle Island was found lying on his left side on a dirt road in a remote area above the railway and in the vicinity of the Godwin Ghaut Bridge. According to investigators, Williams had obvious injuries to the neck and head that appeared to be those caused by gun shots.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
