Police refute shooting victim’s story

ZIZ NEWSROOM, Basseterre, March 12, 2012 — Police say a young man who was shot on Sunday afternoon was not attacked.

On Sunday afternoon, police were told that masked men shot Oval Lake at Shadwell Estate.

However, Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Stephen Hector told ZIZ that after examining Lake’s wounds and reconstructing the crime scene, it didn’t match what was reported.

Hector says the police have thus negated that he was assaulted by another person.

He says there is a possibility that the wound may have been self-inflicted but they have definitely concluded that he was not attacked.

The police continue to investigate this matter.
