Police Updates (24 July 2015)

(ZIZ News) — The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has been pursuing it initiative of the removal of fire arms and ammunition from the streets of the Federation.

During last week (12th to 18th July) and this week (19th to 25th July ), two (2) fire arms and a number of assorted rounds of ammunition were taken from the streets of the Federation. In one of the instances three (3) persons were taken into police custody.

The High Command the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force therefore takes this opportunity to thank everyone who was instrumental in the process.

In other News: Following the publication of its intention to remove derelict vehicles from public places commencing Tuesday of this week, the Traffic Department and the SSU, along with a owner of a tow truck conducted an operation.

During the operation seven (7) derelict and abandon vehicles were removed and taken to Conaree landfill. Persons who are issued with removal notices are encouraged to cooperate with the authorities.

Also: Kenville Finch of Ponds Pasture was taken before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charges of Possession of Fire Arm and Ammunition; he pleaded guilty to the charges, and was sentenced three (3) years on both charges which are to run concurrently.

Trevor Primus of Lower Fiennes/Fry’s Village who was charged for Malicious Damage on 8th September 2014 was convicted and fined $1000.00 in two (2) months or 30 days imprisonment

Antonio Allister Pemberton of Monkey Hill was convicted for Possession of Cannabis, and given one (1) year suspended sentence. If he commits another drug offence within six (6) months he will sentenced one (1) in prison.

A 17 year old juvenile was taken back to the court for Breaching his Probation, and he was sentenced to serve three (3) months in prison on the original charge of Larceny from the Person which was committed on 22nd June 2015.
