Police Updates (April 02, 2014)

Basseterre, St. Kitts  — A juvenile was formally arrested and charged for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis With Intent to Supply, which were committed on 28th March 2014.

Court Convictions

District “A” Magistrate’s Court

Vernon Osbourne of Buckley’s Development was convicted for Careless Driving, which was committed 11th October 2013, and fined $250.00 which is to be paid in seven (7) days or in default will serve fourteen (14) days in prison.

Doris Isles of Bird Rock was convicted for Careless Driving which was committed on 13th November 2013, and fined $750.00 which is to be paid in six (6) weeks or in default will serve fourteen (14) days in prison.

Cleon Rey of Lime Kiln Project was convicted for Careless Driving, which was committed on 19th October 2013, and fined $300.00 which is to be paid in six (6) weeks or in default will serve fourteen (14) days in prison

District “B” Magistrate’s Court

Rodney Garnette was convicted for Larceny, which was committed on 12th December 2013 and was sentenced to one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.

Demo Mills of Saddlers Village was convicted for Possession of Cannabis, which was committed on 12th September 2013 at Saddler’s Village and was fined $3000.00 to be paid by 21st April 2014 or in default serve three (3) months imprisonment with hard labour.

Kevin Samuel of Belle Vue was convicted for Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 22nd September 2013 at Belle Vue, and fined $800.00 which is to be paid by 14 April 2014 or in default will serve thirty (30) days in prison with hard labour.

Traffic Accident

On Monday 31st March 2014 sometime after 2:00 PM, officers of Cotton Ground Police Station and Fire and Rescue Squad responded to a single vehicle traffic accident along the island main road at Cotton Ground in the vicinity of Colquhoun Estate, which resulted in the driver of the vehicle being taken to the hospital.

Initial investigation reveals that motor truck PA 4716 owned by Oualie Masonry Products and driven by Micheal Smith of Hamilton Estate was travelling from Long Point to Cades Bay, when the accident occurred; the vehicle overturned.

Autopsy

On Sunday 30th March 2014, an Post Mortem Examination was performed on the body of the late Askeo Farrell, 31 years old of West Farm, by the Resident Pathologist, who concluded that the death was a result of Traumatic Shock as a result of Multiple Thoracic Fractures.

House destroyed by Fire

Officers of the Cotton Ground Police Station are investigating a suspicious fire which totally destroyed a wooden building sometime between the late night hours of Friday 28 and early morning hours of Saturday 29, March 2014 at Clifton Estate. The building was used as a storeroom by the owner. Residents in the area went to sleep and awoke in the early morning on Saturday 29 March 2014 and discovered the building totally destroyed by fire.
