Police Updates (February 14, 2015)

PoliceUpdatesFilePhotoB(ZIZ News) — The Violent Crime Unit is currently investigating the suspicious death of 56 year old Irvin “Junie” Greene, of Main Street, Old Road. The partly decomposed body of the deceased was found about 8:20 am Thursday 12th February 2015 at his residence. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Anyone who has any information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 467-1886, 467-1887, the nearest police station, or, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS). Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information and you may be eligible to receive a reward.

In other News: On Monday 9th February, 2015 Akiel Harris of Mansion Village who was indicted for Causing Grievous Bodily Harm which was committed 18th January, 2013 was found guilty and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison pending his sentencing hearing.

District “C” Magistrate’s court

Mikelle Swanston of River Path, Gingerland was convicted for Larceny which was committed between 17th and 19th January 2015, and fined $1000 which is to be paid in six (6) months or default will serve six (6) months in prison.

Giles Byron of Pinneys Road was convicted for Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 12th January 2015, and fined $1500 which is to be paid in three (3) months, or, in default will serve three (3) months in prison.

Jelani Liburd and Kemo Sancho both of Craddock Road were convicted for Cultivation of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis which were committed on 31st January 2015, and were both fined $5000 for Cultivation of Cannabis which is to be in six (6) months, or, in default will serve twelve (12) months in prison, and $5000 for Possession of Cannabis which is to be paid in six (6) months, or, in default will serve twelve (12) months in prison, sentences to run consecutively.

Also: An investigator of the Gingerland Police Station is investigating the cause of which a fire destroyed a house at River Path, Gingerland last night (Wednesday 11 February 2015) about11:05 pm.

Initial investigation revealed that the house was occupied by Mikelle Swanston. The cause of the fire is unknown and no injuries were sustained.
