Poverty Alleviation Programme in Nevis

The Nevis leg of the registration for the government’s Poverty Alleviation Programme began on Monday.

The programme aims to give five hundred dollars a month to households whose total income is three thousand dollar or less per month.

This is the second part of phase one of the programme where persons are encouraged to register.

Earlier officials reminded interested persons to visit assigned application centers with their relevant information including proof of address, such as a utility bill issued within the last two months; a picture id, such as a passport, driver’s license or social security card, as well as your social security number and the most recent pay slip.

The registration phase runs until September 7.

This fact-checking and verification process will be done as part of the second phase of the Poverty Alleviation Programme that will determine whether individuals who have applied for the assistance are genuinely eligible.

Phase three will involve the actual payments to qualifying households, which will start as soon as practicable.
