Premier Brantley Thanks Republic of China (Taiwan) for Generous Support

Premier of Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley, says the government and people of Taiwan continue to be an excellent partner to Nevis and St. Kitts and he thanked them for their generous support.

He made the comment at his monthly press conference on August 29 one day after new resident Taiwanese Ambassador His Excellency Tom Lee, presented its most recent donation of more than $1.5 million in cash and kind.

Among the items donated were two tractors, two pick-up trucks, a backhoe, and a vehicle for the Premier’s office. The ambassador also delivered a cheque for fifteen thousand US dollars to purchase a walk-in freezer for the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agro Processing Unit.

The Premier described the gift as the largest one to date from a foreign government to Nevis and underscored the gift’s significance.

Mr. Brantley added that they had also agreed to assist the Nevis Island Administration with the public park at Pinney’s Estate in the area of Pinney’s Beach.
