Preparations ongoing ahead of Icons Park opening

Preparations are ongoing ahead of the opening of an icons park in Basseterre on Thursday.

Member of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC)/Jenkins Limited Leadership Course Cohort Seven, Kerissa Roberts said that the preparations to create the park were time consuming and chaotic but worth the challenge.

Roberts also explained why the cohort felt the need to develop the community friendly park while also noting its purpose.

She said informational plaques highlighting national icons will be placed inside the park so that persons can read them as they stroll through the area.

The park can be found near the section of land located at the base of ADAM HILLS, AT Infirmary and Horsford’s roads directly opposite the Naomi’s Side Pocket Snackette also referred to as “Five-ways”.

Roberts said work has been ongoing to enhance the landscaping with the addition of ornamental plants, a newly painted fence and stepping stones for a walkway.

She then used the opportunity to thank all sponsors who helped to make the project a success.

The Icons Park will officially open on Thursday March 14 2019.

The general public is being invited to witness the opening ceremony and tour the area.
