Pride snatch 4 points on shortened day

CricketFilePhotoHLucas Street CMC – Predictably, Barbados Pride and Jamaica Franchise could only eke out a lame draw in their rain-wrecked second round match in the WICB Professional Cricket League here Monday.

With play finally getting underway for the first time in four days, only 43.4 overs were possible on the final day at the Windward Sports Club, and both teams meandered their way to whatever points they could salvage.

Sent in, Jamaica rattled up 111 for four declared off 40 overs, with Shacaya Thomas stroking a fluent 59 off 73 balls, with six fours.

In reply, Barbados slumped to six for two before also declaring, to deny the Jamaicans a bowling point.

Barbados finished with four points and Jamaica, three, the best that could be done in a game which saw the first three days abandoned without a ball bowled because of torrential rain across the island.
