Prime Minister Harris Attends Seventh Summit Of The Americas

TimothyHarris-7(ZIZ News) — Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris is leading a delegation to the Seventh Summit of the Americas which takes place in Panama City, Panama from April 10 to 11 2015.

He is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, the Hon. Mark Brantley; Minister of Public Infrastructure, Posts, Urban Development and Transport, the Hon. Ian “Patches” Liburd; St. Kitts and Nevis’ High Commissioner to Jamaica, His Excellency Cedric Harper; and Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaye Bass.

Prime Minister Harris left the Federation on Tuesday for Jamaica to attend Thursday’s Summit of CARICOM Heads of Government and meeting with United States President, Barack Obama.

The Heads of State of the Americas will address the central theme, “Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas”, with special emphasis on education, health, energy, environment, migration, security, citizen participation and democratic governance.

During Dr. Harris’ absence, Senior Minister the Hon. Vance Amory will carry the other portfolio responsibilities, including finance meanwhile, Attorney General the Hon. Vincent Byron will carry responsibility for foreign affairs and aviation and Minister of State the Hon. Wendy Phipps will carry responsibility for public infrastructure, posts, urban development and transport.
