(ZIZ News) — “Come to help us build the best small island state in the world” was the closing message of the country’s Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris, when he spoke during Monday’s budget debate.
Prime Minister Harris extended an invitation to members of the country’s Opposition to help in building the twin-island Federation, asking “that they will come with their new expertise in areas of law and crime management techniques and in ICT to help us build the best small island state in the world. We welcome all regardless of their political affiliation.”
He further called on the Opposition to be committed to what he called “the programme of developing the country.”
“Be a professional in service to your country. UNITY is still the best way for St. Kitts and Nevis,” he said.
He continued “Come help us build this land of your birth, and this land of your citizenship. CCM, PAM, PLP together and we’re broad and mature enough to welcome others, even those opposite, to turn from the path of divisiveness and bad mind towards the country to come help us build.”
The Prime Minister urged the Opposition to “help us correct the damage that you did and we don’t hold that against you because we say we are the government. We have accepted the inheritance and it is a mixed bag of good and bad but we are confident that we can make even a bad inheritance a good one.”
