Prime Minister Harris says his work has already begun
(ZIZ News) — Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris said that he had already begun working in the interest of the Nation.
During an impromptu interview at Government Headquarters on Thursday morning, the new Prime Minister said he had been meeting with investors.
“Yesterday, I met with investors. I met with people with significant investment in the country; provide them with certain assurances that we are going to be a business-friendly government. I have been in touch with them by phone; I have already had courtesy calls by the Republic of China on Taiwan, its ambassador. I have had telephone conversation with the Ambassador of Cuba, so by and large, the work has begun. I have been meeting, over the last couple days, with investors who had indicated that they were willing to come to the country but they needed to ensure that the democratic fibre of the country was one that would ensure stability,” he said.
Prime Minister Harris also said he looks forward to working with other Caribbean leaders. He said the support so far had been promising.
“Three of the Prime Ministers had been in touch with me. We had began to look at the new Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, what were some of the challenges facing the region of the OECS etcetera and how we are going to work together. These Prime Ministers, fortunately Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is my very good friend of longstanding. We served as Ministers of Education in a past dispensation. Prime Minister Gonsalves has been a comrade leader,” Dr. Harris explained.
