Prime Minister’s Press Conference July 2nd

The government’s plans for legislation on good governance, the federation’s strong fiscal performance and the intention to decentralize economic activity with the reduction of land in specific areas across the country, were some of the topics discussed when Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris hosted his monthly press conference on Tuesday at Government Headquarters.

The Prime Minister noted that the Press Conference comes on the heels of the federation’s successful hosting of two major events; the 4th Annual Caribbean Investment Summit and the 23rd Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

The Prime Minister congratulated Minister of Tourism Hon. Lindsay Grant and the Music Festival committee lead by Damion Hobson for the job that was done in the planning of the festival.

He said the Music Festival has become the premier summer festival in the region and spoke of its economic impact.

Also among the Prime Minister’s talking points was a report on the significant reduction in major crimes, as he commended the police force for the work that is being done in law enforcement.

He also made mention of ongoing capital projects including the Island Main Road Rehabilitation Project, the Hurricane Relief Programme, the Old Road Bay Rehabilitation Project and the renovation work at the airport.

The Prime Minister’s monthly press conference which forms a part of the government’s good governance agenda was broadcast live on national media and attended by the press corps.
