Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, William V Hodge is making a strong appeal to the general public to ensure the safety of children in light of confirmed COVID-19 cases in St. Kitts.
He made the appeal during a special address on Thursday March 26 and asked that children remain safely at home.
“This means that your children would be required to remain at home and indoors for their safety and wellbeing. I am hereby making a passionate appeal to you to ensure that your children are kept safely within your homes. Within communities, there should not be any congregating of children in groups of any size”, Mr. Hodge warned.
The Permanent Secretary said while children are banned from gathering in groups outdoors, police teams will monitor the streets for activity during this time.
“Be also advised that the Ministry of National Security has informed the Ministry of Education that the Community Policing Team will be monitoring our streets as of Thursday, 26th March, 2020 to ensure adherence to this directive.”
All Government Early Childhood Centres, Primary and Secondary Schools will remain closed until April 17.
