The St. James’ Primary School held its annual sports meet on Tuesday 1th March at the school’s grounds.  The meet was held under the distinguished patronage of former top athlete at the school, Adrian Douglas.

The meet got off to an extraordinarily late start, at about 2 pm and concluded just about 6.45 pm in spite of the limited lighting available.

The athletes however entertained thoroughly and revealed the fact that the St.James’ Primary School does have a few athletes who will be seriously contesting for positions, come the big inter primary day.

They competed in the 80; 100; 200; 400; 800 and 1200 meters events; along with the 4X100; and the 4X200 relay races.

Additionally, there were fun races such as sack race; three legged race; potato race (using real potatoes) and the lime and spoon race (using real limes).

The parents, both males and females, also ran for bragging rights under the fading light.

At the end of the day, the final scores were:

Red house—401-champions

Gold house—296

Green house—220
