Residents Warned Against Buying Medication Online

(ZIZ)– It has become quite a common practice to buy just about anything online…including medication.

However, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Patrick Martin says it is not recommended that individuals buy medication and supplements online.

He said, “Internet stores and pharmacies tend to operate outside of the regulatory remit of government authority…and there is no indication on the advertisement that the internet pharmacy is subject to law.”

Martin added that there is no guarantee the online product is safe therefore it is advisable to buy medication from local pharmacies.

“Don’t buy anything from internet pharmacies. Buy stuff from reputable, trustworthy pharmacies…people you know, people who you can carry back a product to if you need to return it. ”

Dr. Martin also said that while the internet offers what looks like great deals, these deals can be dangerous and possibly fatal.
