Revellers kick off carnival celebrations with Sugar Mas 45 Early Bird J’ouvert

(ZIZ News) — The revelry started early in the carnival season again this year as crowds of people could be seen jamming during the Sugar Mas 45 Early Bird J’ouvert on Saturday morning.

The inaugural Sugar Mas 45 Early Bird J’ouvert jam started at 6 am with the Nu Vybes Band International starting at the Shadwell roundabout and moving east onto the F.T Williams highway.

The Early Bird J’ouvert jam saw hundreds of persons bouncing to the sounds of the Soca music.

The early j’ouvert is one of the new activities that rolled out last carnival season for those revellers who wanted to kick off the carnival celebrations early.

The j’ouvert followed the official launch ceremony that opened the Sugar Mas 45 season on Friday evening at The Circus in downtown Basseterre.

The Sugar Mas 45 activities continue on Thursday November 24 with Phase 1 of the Soca Monarch eliminations event.

Sugar Mas 45 Grande J’ouvert jam is scheduled for Monday December 26.
