Richards: TVET Programme Needs to be Better Marketed

(ZIZ News) — As part of his plan to change how the country educates its youth, Minister with responsibility for Education and Youth, Hon. Shawn Richards says the Technical Vocational Educational and Training [TVET] Programme needs to be better marketed.

“We are expanding the TVET Programme,” he said, adding that “Part of expanding the TVET Programme is of course taking on the marketing side of it.”

“We also recognise that a number of persons, probably too many persons, are of the view that technical training, technical education, vocational education isn’t as important as having what we refer to as the academic subjects. That mindset has to change and it’s not going to change overnight so the marketing part of it is going to be critical so we intend to embark on a serious marketing campaign to help to change that mindset,” the Minister explained.

His comments came recently when he spoke during a televised interview on ZIZ Channel 5.
