Rock Rolls Into Passenger Bus

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 21, 2020 (ZIZ News):

A bus driver and a passenger have been injured following an incident in Old Road where a rock rolled off the hill, into the passenger bus.

National Disaster Coordinator Abdias Samuel outlined the specifics of incident which took place Friday morning.

“A motor omnibus that was travelling via that means would have been impacted by a small boulder that would have rolled off the hill and it would have struck the bus at the front. The front passenger and the driver would have been impacted by this event, hence we are asking all road users to exercise caution travelling in that area.”As the weather system approaches, he encouraged persons to be careful in hazardous areas.

“Throughout the day and into tomorrow we are going to ask persons to exercise caution around these areas where you may have rock falls; areas that we know have the potential for landslides and also we are advising persons not to park in known waterways where water flows heavily.” National Disaster Coordinator Abdias Samuel.
