Ross University St. Kitts Job Fair Considered a Success

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 24, 2011 – Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) held a job fair in downtown Basseterre at Independence Square yesterday. An estimated 800 attendees visited the job booth, which showcased jobs in security, communications, grounds keeping and various other career opportunities.

The event offered citizens of St. Kitts the chance to review and apply for the available positions without traveling to the University’s campus. Ms. Kizzy Dedier, RUSVM Human Resources Generalist commented on the benefits the job fair presented. “The opportunity to host a job fair in Basseterre is mutually beneficial for both Ross University and the community. It creates public awareness about the veterinary school and provides a more accessible opportunity for persons interested in the available positions.

It also exhibits our interest in hiring local talent.” Coordinated by the Human Resources Department, the fair began at 11:00 a.m. and concluded at 5:00 p.m. on the Western side of the square.

The half-day event allowed time for individuals to visit the booth at lunch or later in the afternoon. A number of local nationals, with varying qualifications, showed interest in the job fair. When asked about the opportunity, a prospective employee who had completed an application shared his thoughts regarding the job fair. He remarked, “I think Ross University has made a very good decision by bringing their job fair into a place as accessible as the square.

Persons can [simply] come across when they have time and complete an application; or if they choose, they can visit the Web site and fill out the same application at a more convenient time.” Looking into the future, the RUSVM team can certainly expect to see a few additions to their workforce as individuals proceed through the hiring process.

RUSVM has a number of currently open positions, with more to follow in the near future. For more information visit http://www.rossu.edu/careers.
