Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 22, 2012 (SKNIS): In an effort to help students with livelihood options, the Saddlers Secondary School will be hosting a career week under the theme “Let Your Dreams Take Flight.”

Adina Richards, Principal of Saddlers Secondary, stated that the week aims to sensitize the students about a variety of career choices that can lead to gainful employment and personal fulfillment.

The objectives of the week are to encourage students to explore and understand what preparations and skills are needed to be successful in specific careers. It will give them the necessary tools that will enable them to make their choices wisely.

Minister of Education, Hon. Nigel Carty, expressed that the organizing of the career week and fair is a demonstration of the commitment of the school’s administration to help students find a career path that will lead them to their chosen destinies.

Pertaining particularly to Second Form students, Minister Carty advised that they soon would be making overseas examination choices and it is important to understand that such decisions would impact their future.

During the week a number of topics will be presented. These include “Imagine your Future” by Charlene Bowry , “Building Aspiration” by Hon. Curtis Martin, “Professionalism” by Kaye Bass, and “Choices” by Yasmine Davis.

The week culminates with a career fair on Friday May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.at the school. It is hoped that by the end of career week all Second Form students will be equipped with essential information that will enable them to select the appropriate combination of subjects for their chosen career.
