Sandy Point Agricultural Cooperative Society Hosts Food Fair

The Sandy Point Agricultural Cooperative Society (SPACS) wrapped up the world food day week of activities with a food fair and agricultural exhibition on Saturday October 20.

Now in its 9th year, the food fair and exhibition kicked off with an opening ceremony held at the Sandy Point Public Market. During his opening remarks, registrar of cooperatives at the Department of Agriculture, Clyde Thompson congratulated SPACS for keeping the event afloat over the past 9 years.

President of the Sandy Point Agricultural Cooperatives Society, Lionel Stevens used the opportunity to highlight ways in which the public can aid in the fight against world hunger.

The fair featured a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables, agro-processed products, souvenirs, locally designed clothing, plants and livestock.

One of the major highlights during this year’s food fair was the live cooking presentations that included ital food on the menu. Persons were also treated with cultural performances including singing and drum selections.

The world food day week of activities were held under the theme, “Our Actions are Our Future”.
