School children meet sporting stars

Sports Page — As the 2014 edition of the 4th annual Sports Museum Week continues, the featured sporting stars who were at the Museum on Wednesday 9th July, were Netballers, Vera Herbert and Jasmine Charles and well known Body builder, Desmond BULL Liburd.

The three outstanding sporting personalities spoke to students from the St.Thomas’ Primary School and explained to them the value of discipline, training and setting goals.

Some of the benefits of pursuing the sport of their choice, were indicated as follows:

Travel around the world free of cost; staying at top hotels free of cost; acquiring scholarships which would allow for pursuit of higher education at no cost to one’s family, among other benefits.

The enthused children asked quite a number of questions, before concluding with a tour of the facility.

Tomorrow, Thursday 10th July is expected to be a busy day at the Sports Museum as the sporting heroes expected to be present from 9 to 10 am are:

Denzil Parris; James Greene; Shakira WANDA Parry; Jenerson France and Wakeley Daniel.

Students from several schools across the island are expected to meet with the sporting heroes.
