Shooting Incident at Upper Market Street left one person injured

Basseterre, St. Kitts — The police and members of the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) are investigating a shooting incident which occurred about 8:00 pm Sunday (6th September 2015) at Upper Market Street which resulted in one (1) person injured. Having received the report members of the Crime Scene, Tactical and K-9 Units responded immediately to the location of the crime scene.

Initial investigations revealed that (AGE) Kamal George of Upper Market Street and a friend were walking up Lower Market Street when they were attacked by an armed assailant(s) who discharged a loaded firearm at them. Kamal received a gunshot injury to his right hand and was transported to the JNF Hospital for medical attention where he was treated and discharged. The crime scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Unit and a number of items were collected for further analysis. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
