Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 21st , 2020 (ZIZ News) One year after the launch of his autobiography ‘The Making of a National Hero’, Sir Kennedy Simmonds is giving persons another opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of his book at a book signing on Tuesday.
The hosting of this event comes as Sir Kennedy’s book received a 3 star rating from international critic onlinebookclub.org which described publication as “an enlightening and heart-touching memoir of the author.”
In an interview with ZIZ News, Sir Kennedy said over the past year since the launch of the book, the feedback overall has been positive despite the slowdown due to the covid19 pandemic.
“We got a couple of good local reviews but we have so far one very good international review which we got through an online book club. I got 3 stars out of 4. The reviewer said he didn’t give the fourth star because he found the book was too long; well I have a long life, I’m 84 so that’s alright.”
Sir Kennedy said he appreciates the 3 out of 4 rating based on the considerations made by the critic.
“If you leave it to me, he gave me 3 out of 4, taking into account the cultural differences I felt I should have gotten 4. Even at school, I always feel I should get the maximum; teachers didn’t always agree of course. A the end of the day I am pretty satisfied with the 3 out of 4 because he looked at various aspects of the book and how we related from childhood, how I related to the people who influenced my life; he seemed to be very impressed with that.”
Tuesday’s book signing will be held at the National Trust in the Old treasury building from 10: 30 am to 4pm.
Sir Kennedy spoke of what can be expected at the event.
“Tomorrow morning, starting at 10:30 to 4pm at the National Trust Museum under the archway, the Old Treasure building, at the end of Fort Street, Central Street and Porte Zante. So I’ll be available for people to buy copies of the book and have them signed right there and then and I know that there are persons who have bought books but have not had them autographed but would like to. This is an opportunity for persons who have books to come and get them autographed. It is also an opportunity for persons to buy the book a Christmas present.”
