SKELEC Honours Former Workers With Love Baskets

Basseterre St. Kitts, February 14, 2023 (ZIZ Newsroom): The St. Kitts Electricity Department (SKELEC) spread the love with former employees on Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, through its Love Basket initiative.

Dressed in red and white, staff of SKELEC led by General Manager Clement Williams, visited six persons who were presented with tokens of appreciation.

During the presentation to Claudette Butler of Upper Cayon, Williams said the initiative seeks to show love to each recipient.

“We always remember our employees both present and past,” Williams said. “With this initiative, it’s just a matter of giving back and showing the love on Valentine’s Day.”

Former SKELEC staff member Louisa Jeffers thanked the company for the donation, noting that she appreciates that SKELEC always remembers her.

“Today’s presentation is a happy one for me. I feel young again. Valentine’s is for young people like me and I’m very happy for my number one workers in St. Kitts, the Department of Electricity, because, there is where I started at $40 a week. So all the managers, I want to thank them very much, and all the workers, they are very nice to me and I’m nice to them. I’m always bigging them up. I’m very happy for this and I thank you all for remembering me with everything,” she said.

The recipients of the SKELEC Love Basket Initiative are Louisa Jeffers, Eustace Archibald, Wentworth Richardson, George Gilbert, Irvin Barnes and Claudette Butler.
