SKN Red Cross Hosts 2 Day Psychosocial Support Workshop

The St. Kitts and Nevis Red Cross wrapped up its 2 day psychosocial support workshop on Wednesday.

The workshop formed part of the organization’s mandate to partner with other organizations to provide psychosocial support for persons in need following natural disasters.

Disaster coordinator for the St. Kitts – Nevis Red Cross, Patricia Peets explained why hosting the workshop was necessary.

Psychologist at JNF General Hospital and facilitator at the psychosocial workshop, Dr. Cherrylyn Ward Crawford explained how the sessions help to develop skills designed to assist those in crisis situations.

Psychosocial support trainer at the St. Kitts – Nevis Red Cross, Kerdis Clarke spoke in detail about the various topics discussed during the workshop.

Red Cross volunteers, representatives from the National Emergency Management Agency, the mental health and counselling centre, the St. Kitts Nevis Defense Force, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Fire and Rescue Services were all present at the workshop.

The psychosocial sessions ran from 9 am and ended at 3.
